A humidifier must be used in a humidor. When using your for the first time fill a cup or bowl large enough to put the humidifier in it. fill it with distilled water. (only distilled water) let it soak in the water for about 10 minutes. The sponge/clay inside absorbs the water. Place the humidifier in your humidor. Add water if you humidity starts to drop. If your humidity is to high (higher then 75%) leave your humidor open just a little until the appropriate humidity has been reached. When refilling your humidifier take it out of your humidor, pour distilled water on it until the water begins to pool on top of the screen.
